Every Forester gets a 2.5-liter Subaru Boxer four-cylinder engine, which pairs with a continuously variable transmission (CVT). On most trims, this powertrain gets 180 horsepower and 178 pound-feet of torque. The Wilderness trim gets 182 horsepower and 176 pound-feet of torque. All Wilderness models come standard with Subaru's legendary Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive system, which provides outstanding traction whether you are commuting to work in the rain or navigating your favorite trails.

The Forester comes standard with a towing capacity of 1,500 pounds, while the Wilderness trim can tow up to 3,000 pounds. With a standard fuel economy of 33 miles per gallon on the highway and 26 miles per gallon in the city, the Forester is a terrific option for drivers who want to save money on gas.

Technology & Safety

The Forester Base trim comes standard with dual seven-inch touchscreens and wired Apple CarPlay® and Android Auto™. On all higher trims, an 11.6-inch touchscreen anchors the infotainment setup. The larger touchscreen also pairs with wireless Apple CarPlay® and Android Auto™. The second-tier Premium trim also gains a wireless charging pad while increasing the number of speakers from four to six. Interior

The Forester's cozy interior comes standard with dual-zone automatic climate control, which lets the driver and front passenger enjoy their preferred temperatures. The Premium trim gains heated front seats, a power-adjustable driver's seat, reclining rear seats, and synthetic leather upholstery with blue stitching. Farther up the trim level ladder, you will find features like leather upholstery, a power-adjustable front passenger seat, a heated steering wheel with paddle shifters, and heated rear seats. As for storage, the Base trim has 29.6 cubic feet of cargo volume behind the rear seats and 74.4 cubic feet behind the front seats; all other trims have 27.5 cubic feet and 69.1 cubic feet, respectively.

Exterior

Sport: Adds bronze-finish wheels, shift paddles, drive modes, brown interior stitching, blind-spot warning with automatic emergency braking, and automatic emergency steering.

Limited: Builds on the Premium with a hands-free power liftgate, leather upholstery, a heated steering wheel, drive modes, a power-adjustable driver's seat, one-touch power-folding seatbacks, and the Sport trim's extra safety features.

Touring: The most luxurious trim with ventilated front seats, gesture controls for climate control, integrated navigation, an 11-speaker Harmon Kardon sound system, and additional safety features.
